Mayumi Takahashi Museum of Doll Art

Introduction of facilities

A place where stories are born

The Mayumi Takahashi Museum of Doll Art was opened in Iiyama City, Nagano Prefecture in April 2010. Its concept was to allow visitors to enjoy both the world of heartwarming dolls and the warmth of the traditional Japanese countryside that inspired them. The museum is located in a quarter of the city that is home to numerous temples that retain a nostalgic aura characterized by “gangi” (alleyways covered with snow-protection eaves), the sound of a local train as it clicks, clanks and rumbles by and the now-and-then chiming of temple bells.
